Monsanto Claims to Ditch Herbicide…While Selling More of It

http://www.motherjones.com/tom-philpott/2013/04/roundup-usual-suspect-herbicide-sales-drive-monsanto-profit

Genetically modified seed giant Monsanto likes to trumpet its commitment to “sustainable agriculture.” The story goes like this: By  generating novel, high-tech crop varieties, Monsanto will wean farmers  off of their reliance on synthetic chemical poisons. The company even  markets its flagship product, seeds genetically engineered to survive  its own Roundup weed killer, as a way for farmers to “decrease the  overall use of herbicides.”

And yet, while the company  has tried hard to leave behind its past as a purveyor of herbicides  and rebrand itself as a technology company, selling toxic…read more 542526620_59c054ab0b

Drug-tainted horsemeat in food chain: France

Several horse carcasses containing the drug Phenylbutazone have probably ended up in the human food chain, France’s agriculture ministry said on Saturday. Phenylbutazone is an anti-inflammatory treatment for horses which is potentially harmful to humans and by law is supposed to be kept out of the food chain. A spokesman said the ministry was alerted by British authorities that six tainted carcasses had been exported to France in January, but that the meat had already been processed.

The official told AFP that some of the meat had been recalled but that the equivalent of three carcasses had “probably” been eaten. There was only a “minor” health risk, he said.

Teens arrested in shooting death of three dairy cows

November 29, 2012|STAN MADDUX | South Bend Tribune Correspondent

LAPORTE — Two boys ages 17 and 14 were arrested early Thursday for fatally shooting three cows near Union Mills.

About 10 p.m. Wednesday, dairy farmer Glen Minich told police he heard four to five gunshots at his dairy farm.

He then found one of his cows dead in a pasture along LaPorte County Road 425 West and two other cows dead on another stretch of his property off 500 South.

At least two of the cows suffered gunshot wounds to the head, said police.

Minich happened to encounter the suspects in a vehicle near his property. He got a license plate number after they drove away and that helped police track down the suspects.

Eventually, the boys admitted to their roles and it’s believed each of them took turns in the killings with a high-powered rifle, LaPorte County Police Detective Andy Hynek said.

“One was more honest than the other. Ultimately, they confessed to being responsible,” said Hynek.

Both of the boys are being charged as juveniles with three counts of animal cruelty and three counts of criminal recklessness, all Class D felonies.

Minich said he has about 100 head of cattle on his dairy farm and the cows killed were Holsteins worth $1,200 to $1,500 apiece.

Eating a Rainbow each Day!

Eating Rainbows

Society considers that which is white to
be pure. Such a belief can be deceptive.

By shining white light through a prism,
one is instantly blessed with the hidden
beauty and complex nature of our universe.
A pure white beam of light reveals its
inner essense.

Most people can name the seven visible
colors of the rainbow’s spectrum. Violet,
indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and
red. Of course, there are two other colors,
often forgotten, but always present,
ultraviolet and infra-red.

Animals and insects feel these colors.
Plants sense them, too. While we lack
the same receptors and are blind to
their existance, our handicap cannot
negate their influence.

The ultras and infras of plants are
magical substances! They include plant
chemicals, or phyto chemicals such as
isoflavones and bioflavinoids. Science
teaches us that plants protect themselves
from attack with their own secretions
and chemical messengers. Vegetables repel
insects who would eat them, and blossoms
attract other insects with a perfume so
that their pollens can be spread and their
species self-propagate. Plants protect
themselves from too much heat, or cold,
or wind, or too much moisture, maintaining
their own good health with their
specialized hormones.

Plants can cure their own sicknesses and
cancers by secreting and bathing themselves
with these enchanted essences.

When we eat the plants, we are similarly
protected. Modern science has confirmed the
centuries-old traditions and lore from
cultures that refined the sacred techniques
of using foods as medicine.

TODAY’S PERFECT RAINBOW

Eat foods of color. The perfect color can
be found right in the middle of our rainbow,
the color green. There is a pot of gold
and jewels within that rainbow, and these
treasures so contained can be cashed in
to purchase good health.

Eat green for wellness.

In the 1980s, scientists first began to
explore how phytochemicals prevent cancers.
A great amount of emphasis was placed upon
the fruits and vegetables that contain
vibrant colors. The best known of these
wonder drugs was recognized as beta
carotene. That’s what gives carrots their
bright orange hue.

In the 1990s, scientists at the University
of Minnesota (Steinmetz, et. al.) categorized
different groups of fruits and vegetables
demonstrating life giving, disease fighting
qualities. In doing so, they defined some of
those magic colors, and the phytochemicals
so contained within those pigments.

SOME OF THE MAGICAL COLORS

The violet, indigo and blues of the plant
kingdom includephenols and dithiolthiolnines
contained in eggplant, cruciferous
vegetables, grapes, plums, and grains.

Eat onions and shallots, leeks, scallions
and garlic for cancer-fighting alliums.
Those green leafy vegetables contain
flavonoids, and inositol is found in
beans. Green fruits and veggies contain
phenols, and plant sterols, protease
inhibitors and saponins.

Yellow limonines contained in citrus
fruit and squash have also been identified
as cancer fighters, as have the orange
carotines in carrots, and my all-time
favorite vitamin pill, the cantaloupe.
Balancing out the rainbow’s spectrum
would be the red phenols in peppers,
radishes, and tomatoes.

Tens of thousands of unique substances
have been identified, and there are still
plant hormones and enzymes yet to be
discovered.

Remarkably, the one plant containing the
greatest amount of these wonderful
phytochemicals is the soybean. Soybeans
contain coumarins, flavonoids, inositol,
isoflavones, lignans, phenols, plant
sterols, protease inhibitors, saponins,
and Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils.

For many years, it has been said that
“an apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
Such wisdom! Each day of one’s life should
reflect a lifestyle that includes this maxim:

For the best of health eat a rainbow today!

Detox From Milk: Seven Days

Detox From Milk: Seven Days

Happy day #14 of the New Year! Many Americans
have already broken their first New Year’s
resolution. It does not have to be a down
ride for the next 352 days. For those who
want so much to break the chemical addiction
to milk opiates (casomorphins), let’s start
all over, ok? Can you keep the most important
pledge of your life for just seven days at a time?

Here is a resolution that all humans should make
for 2012: No Drinking Milk From Other Mammals.
Not from pigs or horses or cows or dogs or
or aardvarks. If you feel that you really need
milk as part of your diet, then obtain your
supply from human breast milk. You will find
that commodity for sale, and while you are
drinking that human milk, consult Hebrews 5:13.

Detox From Milk Hormones in Just Seven Days

That is your challenge and goal, for during that
seven day period of abstaining from all milk and
dairy, one gallon of mucus will be expelled from
your kidneys, spleen, pancreas, and other internal
organs.

If you still eat cheese, ice cream, milk chocolate,
and yogurt, your one-week experience will be as if
an internal fog has been dispersed from inside of you.

Most people successfully weaning themselves from all
milk and dairy products immediately observe dramatic
physical and emotional changes. Better sleep, more
energy, fewer mood swings, more sexual energy. Just
seven days to a new you.

Take the challenge. Your body will thank you. So will
those who care most about you.

If you are daring enough, or doubting enough to think
that your new feelings are mere coincidence, host a
pizza party with ice cream for dessert after your
seven day milk-fast. Remember the good and bad
feelings, for in 15 hours after your dairy feast,
the famine of bad feelings will return.

During 2012, just say “Notmilk!” each time you are
exposed to an obscene “Got Milk?” ad.

Indigene Völker spielen Schlüsselrolle im   Naturschutz

Donnerstag, 10. November 2011 11:22
